PRACTICE DESCRIPTION
Lisa Michaux Magids is a partner with the law firm of Smith, Robertson, Elliott, Glen, Klein & Bell, L.L.P. She focuses her practice on litigation matters, including general commercial litigation, personal injury, general tort, insurance coverage issues, insurance bad faith matters, securities class action matters, governmental regulation matters and trade secret litigation. Ms. Magids has represented clients in premises liability matters involving construction site accidents, assaults, slip-and-falls, as well as other matters. She has represented high-tech manufacturers and software companies in complex trade secret litigation, contract disputes, premises liability matters, consumer protection litigation, and other complex commercial litigation matters. Ms. Magids has also represented healthcare and insurance clients in governmental investigations, product liability matters, coverage disputes, contractual disputes, and issues involving the Texas Department of Insurance, the Attorney General's Office, and other governmental agencies. Ms. Magids also serves as local counsel in various securities class action matters in Federal Courts around the state.
Ms. Magids was admitted to practice law in Texas in 1997. Prior to joining Smith-Robertson, she was an associate in Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P.'s Austin office since 2000. After graduating from law school, Ms. Magids began her practice in Fulbright & Jaworski, L.L.P.'s Houston office, before transferring to the Austin office.
Ms. Magids received a B.S., cum laude, in Human and Organizational Development in 1994, from Vanderbilt University and a J.D. from Southern Methodist University in 1997. While in law school, Ms. Magids volunteered at the Dallas Better Business Bureau, handling consumer disputes.
Ms. Magids is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Austin Young Lawyers Association, the Travis County Women Lawyers Association, and the Austin Bar Association where she serves as Chair of Settlement Week. She is also admitted to practice before the United States District Courts of the Southern, Northern, Eastern and Western Districts of Texas. She is also admitted to practice before the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals.
